SPOKANE, WA -Banner Bank and the Spokane Indians have joined forces once again for its annual Banner Bank-Spokane Indians Scholarship Program. The program will give $500 in college scholarships to five deserving area high school seniors. Scholarship applications are available starting today.

"Banner Bank is proud to underwrite this great program, which demonstrates our commitment to youth, education and the Spokane community," said D. Michael Jones, President and CEO of Banner Bank.

Each of the five scholarship winners and their families will be hosted at a 2010 Spokane Indians game and honored during a pre-game ceremony.

The scholarships will be awarded based on achievement in four areas: scholarship, leadership, character and community involvement. The scholarship is open to any student who attends a high school in Spokane County.

"Last year Banner Bank and the Indians helped five local kids go to colleges throughout the Northwest and we are excited to continue this tradition," said Spokane Indians president Andrew Billig.

Students who are interested in receiving a scholarship application should contact their school's scholarship coordinator or e-mail Dimitri Perera at dperera@spokaneindiansbaseball.com for more information.

The Indians open the 2010 season June 18 against the Tri-City Dust Devils at Avista Stadium. Ticket packages for the 2010 season are now on sale. Please contact the Spokane Indians Ticket Office at (509) 343-OTTO (6886) or order online at www.spokaneindiansbaseball.com.
