January 12, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Tim Doherty have announced the signing of right-hander Josh Wahpepah for the 2010 season.
Wahpepah, 25, was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the third round of the 2004 amateur draft out of Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, KS. He began his professional career with rookie-level Helena of the Pioneer League after signing with Milwaukee on June 16, 2004.
"Josh is a sinker-slider guy that made it as far as Double-A with the Brewers," said Doherty. "He'll add a veteran presence to our bullpen this season."
The right-hander advanced as high as Double-A Huntsville in his time with the Brewers, including the entire 2009 season where he posted a 1-2 mark with a 5.18 ERA over 66 innings, mostly as a reliever. He enters the 2010 season with a 4.23 ERA over 468 and one-thirds career innings, holding a 28-28 mark in that span.
The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign in Gary, Ind. on May 20 and will host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28. Season ticket packages and mini plans are available now by calling 913-328-5618. For information on group outings, call 913-328-5623. Single game tickets will go on sale in March.
