Knoxville Ice Bears News Release
Guaranteed Fight Night lived up to its name tonight with plenty of excitement on the ice and in the stands as the Knoxville Ice Bears took on the Louisiana IceGators. Forward Tim Vitek put the first point on the board with a power play goal assisted by captain Kevin Swider and Mark Van Vliet 9:35 into the first period.
The IceGators started second period down 2-0 after another Ice Bears goal, this one by Swider. This was only the second game coached by Louisiana IceGators new head coach Dave MacIsaac. MacIsaac was brought in as Louisiana's fourth coach of the season after John Gibson was fired last week. IceGators player Jason Hamilton, who is currently on the injured reserve list, acted as MacIsaac's assistant.
The second and third periods remained scoreless, but the Ice Bears out-shot the IceGators 33-32.
