Kings Recall Elkins From Manchester

December 14, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Manchester Monarchs News Release


LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled (emergency re-call) center Corey Elkins from the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Elkins, 24, is currently Manchester's co-leader with 19 points and eight goals (8-1119). He also shares the team lead with three power play goals. Elkins' 19 points is also tied for eighth in the AHL among rookies, while his eight goals are tied for fifth among AHL freshman.

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound native of West Bloomfield, Michigan spent the previous four years at Ohio State. Last season, his senior year, Elkins recorded 41 points (18-2341) in 42 games. His 41 points and 18 goals led Ohio State and his plus-24 rating co-led the team.

Elkins, yet to play in the NHL, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on March 31, 2009. He will wear No. 47 with the Kings.
