Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Waterloo Black Hawk Captain Brock Montpetit will be a member of the University of Nebraska-Omaha Maverick hockey program when the school joins the WCHA next season.

The Somerset, Wisconsin-native playing his third season in Waterloo is the Black Hawks leading, active scorer and top point producer so far this season. In 19 games during 2009-2010, Montpetit has recorded ten goals and 14 assists, tying him for the eighth-highest point total in the USHL. His 97 career regular-season points put him in a tie for 22nd all-time during the Black Hawks' junior era. Montpetit will likely become the 21st Black Hawk to reach 100 career points.

"Brock has developed all the aspects of his game in his time here," said Waterloo Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "Even before he came to the USHL, I don't think there was any doubt he would eventually be a contributor with an NCAA program, but the work he has put in over two-and-a-half seasons has helped him become a very solid two-way player."

Montpetit's commitment gives the Black Hawks a dozen players who have earned scholarship offers from NCAA Division I programs.

Waterloo Black Hawk defenseman Tony Turgeon will join Montpetit with the Mavericks next season. Current UNO junior defenseman Pasko Skarica also played in Waterloo for two seasons from 2005-2007.
