Around the League
Gamblers Deal Five Straight
...The Green Bay Gamblers have built a six-point lead in the East Division standings thanks to a recent five-game winning streak. Four of those wins have been by one goal as nine of the past ten Green Bay games have been decided by a single tally. Gamblers leading scorer Anders Lee has a point in each of the last five victories. The goaltending tandem of Ryan McKay and Steve Summerhays has a combined 2.00 GAA during the five-game win streak. Summerhays has collected three of the wins and McKay has posted a 1.44 GAA and.936 SV% in his two starts. Ryan Furne had consecutive three-point games in the two-game sweep of Waterloo over the weekend and converted a shootout attempt on Sunday vs. Cedar Rapids. Reed Seckel tallied eight points (3g, 5a) in the two games vs. Waterloo. Green Bay equaled a League season high when they scored five goals in the second period of Friday's 7-3 victory.
A Force to Reckon With
...A six-game winning streak has helped the Fargo Force climb to within one point of second place in West Division standings. The Force are 4-0-0 during their current five-game homestand outscoring the opposition 19-10 in those four contests. Fargo spoiled a six-game winning streak by Sioux City with a two-game sweep over the Musketeers during the weekend. Nate Condon tallied the game-winning goal in Friday's 3-1 win, his third straight game scoring the game-winner. He has a goal in five straight games and a point in 11 straight, both current USHL leading streaks. Goaltender Ryan Massa has made three straight starts since joining the club and remains unbeaten (3-0-0) with a 2.00 GAA and.925 SV%. Forward Cole Gunner has scored all four of his goals this season during the six-game win streak and defenseman Nate Schmidt has six points (2g, 4a) over the last three victories. Defenseman Eamonn McDermott has registered three assists and a plus-six rating during the winning streak. He leads the team with a plus-nine rating this season.
Offensive Breakout for RoughRiders
...The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders shook off a five-game winless skid by collecting five of a possible six points in the standings over the weekend. After scoring a total of 11 goals in the five losses, the team exploded for a combined 14 goals in wins over Sioux Falls (6-4) and Des Moines (8-2). Eleven different skaters scored a goal for the RoughRiders in the last three games. Forward Zach Lehrke has points in three straight games and scored the game-winning goal in both weekend victories. Prior to Sunday's shootout loss, Eric Robinson scored goals in three straight games and defensemen Mac Bennett had a goal in each of the team's two weekend victories. Jeff Costello scored his team-leading 10th goal on Saturday and has potted three goals over his past five games. Making three consecutive starts over the weekend, goaltender Troy Grosenick posted a 2-0-1 record and a 2.27 GAA.
Streak Snapped at 17
...Omaha Lancers forward Matt White point streak was stopped at 17 games when he was held scoreless in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Indiana. He collected all of his League-leading 40 points (15g, 25a) during the streak and tallied 11 multi-point games during that span. It was the longest scoring streak by a USHL player since the 2003-04 season when Des Moines Buccaneers forward Mike Erickson tallied a point in 21 straight contests. The USHL record is 25 games shared by Mike Lephart of the Omaha Lancers during the 1996-97 season and Greg Johnson of the Thunder Bay Flyers during the 1988-89 season. In 20 games this season, White is just seven points shy of his total in 60 games during the 2008-09 season when he collected 47 points (17g, 30a).
Storming to a "W"
...The Tri-City Storm snapped their 10-game winless slide with a 6-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars on Friday and improved their season record to 4-0-0 against the Stars. Playing in his first game since being acquired in a trade, Tucker Brockett scored the game-winning goal for the Storm against his former club. Goaltender Carsen Chubak made 29 saves and recorded an assist in the victory. Forward Max Tardy has a point in five straight games (1g, 6a) and team leading scorer Jaden Schwartz has five goals over the last six games. Four of the last five losses for the Storm have come past regulation time (two overtimes, two shootouts).
Phantoms Haunt Steel
...The Youngstown Phantoms snapped a four-game winless streak by completing a two-game sweep over the Chicago Steel during the weekend. The last three victories for the Phantoms have come against Chicago and the team is 4-0-0 vs. the Steel this season. Three Phantoms defenseman each had a goal and an assist in Friday's 6-4 victory - David Donnellan, Scott Mayfield, and Luke Eibler. Forward Adam Berkle scored a goal in both contests during the weekend including the game-winner in Saturday's 3-1 victory. Tom Serratore is averaging a point per game over his last 12 contests (5g, 7a).

...Chicago Steel forward Mark Anthoine has a goal in three straight games and leads the USHL with 16 goals this season...Forward Yasin Cisse has scored five goals over the past four games for Des Moines. Sioux Falls Stampede forward Brent Darnell scored two goals, his first two of the season in the 6-4 win vs. Indiana on Thursday while teammate Michael Voran has scored four goals over his last three games and now has 10 on the season...Indiana Ice forward Antti Roppo has four goals over his past five games, including two game-winners...All five goals scored in the second period of Thursday's Indiana vs. Sioux Falls game were scored on the power play, with Indiana scoring four of them...Matthew Nieto and Bryan Rust each has scored three goals in the past five games for Team USA. Rush also converted his shootout attempt in the 3-2 shootout win over Tri-City on Saturday. It was the first road victory for Team USA this season in the USHL.
Alumni News
...Former Sioux Falls Stampede forward Dan Sexton made his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks on December 4th playing 13 minutes in the 5-4 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. Sexton spent the 2006-07 season with the Stampede scoring 24 points (14g, 10a) in 58 games. He also led all USHL scorers in the playoffs with eight goals in eight games as he helped Sioux Falls capture the Clark Cup.
