Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Saint John Sea Dogs and United Way of Greater Saint John have announced that the two organizations will be joining forces to help enhance the Holiday Season for underprivileged children throughout south western New Brunswick.
"We're extremely excited to partner with the United Way for this campaign," says Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. "The Holiday Season is traditionally a time to give back to one's community and this initiative is great way for Saint Johners to do exactly that."
Beginning today, special Christmas Trees will be set up at Harbour Station, the United Way office, and Lancaster Mall. Each tree will have hundreds of categorized gift tags containing the age and gender of a local child adorning its branches.
Individuals and companies electing to participate in this campaign are invited to select a tag from one of the trees and purchase a gift appropriate to the tag. Gifts may then be brought back to any of the three locations (Lancaster Mall deadline: Dec. 11; Harbour Station and United Way deadline: Dec. 17) where they will be collected and distributed by affiliate agencies of the United Way of Greater Saint John.
The United Way of Greater Saint John celebrates 50 years of commitment to the community this year, serving children, youth, adults, seniors and families, and persons with disabilities through vital human and social services and programs delivered through 24 member agencies and over 60 donor designated and program-funded agencies. Over $33 million has been invested into the community since 1959.
Currently on a franchise-record 15-game winning streak and leading the QMJHL with 47 points, the 23-4-1-0 Saint John Sea Dogs will compete in two home games this coming weekend, with the Drummondville Voltigeurs (Friday, 7:30pm) and Quebec Remparts (Sunday, 4:00pm) set to visit Harbour Station for a pair of highly-anticipated contests. Tickets to all upcoming Sea Dogs home games can be obtained by calling the arena box office at (506) 657-1234.
