The Omaha Lancers notched five goals from five different goal scorers as they skated past the Des Moines Buccaneers 5-1 Friday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. With the win, the Lancers improved to 14-2 on the season and have now reeled off victories in 11 of their last 12 games overall.The Lancers found the back of the net early and often in the first period jumping to a 3-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes thanks to goals from Danny Mattson, Ryan Daugherty and CJ Ludwig. Mattson started the scoring just 3:41 into the contest with his 4th goal of the season after scooping a loose rebound into the back of the Buccaneer cage. Nick Oddo extended his scoring streak to four consecutive games by grabbing the primary assist while Anthony Hamburg earned the secondary helper. Just three minutes later, Omaha doubled its lead thanks to Ryan Daugherty's 6th goal of the season after another Des Moines rebound in front. Troy Power and Dakota Eveland picked up the two assists on the 5-on-5 even strength goal notched 6:43 into the opening frame. Omaha closed its potent first period with CJ Ludwig's 1st goal of season. Seth Ambroz and Erik Haula assisted on the power play marker tallied 16:16 into the period.
After a scoreless middle stanza, the Lancers added a pair of insurance tallies in the first three and a half minutes of the final frame as Matt White and Stefan Demopoulos earned their 10th and 3rd goals of the season respectively. First, White one-timed home his team-leading 10th goal of the season from Ambroz and Ludwig just 46 seconds into the period. With the goal, White extended his league-leading point streak to 12 consecutive games. Then, Demopoulos netted Omaha's final goal of the night from Dennis Brown 3:28 into the final frame. Des Moines managed its only goal of the game with just three and a half minutes left in regulation when Dan O'Donoghue blasted home his 4th goal of the season.
Jeff Teglia improved his overall record in goal to 10-2 on the season after turning aside 21 of Des Moines' 22 total shots including a pair of sprawling, sparkling saves in the opening frame. Buccaneers' goaltender suffered the loss despite 36 saves on 41 Omaha shots.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening as they welcome the Sioux Falls Stampede to the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
