Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks scored twice in the first eight minutes Friday, but couldn't maintain the pace in a 7-3 loss visiting the Chicago Steel at Edge Ice Arena.
Nick Ebert's first USHL goal on a power play at 2:45 put Waterloo in front, but two Steel goals in less than two minutes allowed Chicago to swing ahead. Kevin Lind and Mark Anthoine were responsible for the quick turnaround. Dan Sova tied the game again with a blast at 7:52, but it was almost all Chicago from there. The Steel took the lead for good on an Alex Carpenter goal at 13:01. It was the first of five straight.
Two in the second and two in the third for the Steel stretched the lead. Carpenter finished the night with two tallies, while Anthoine added two assists to his early goal. Alex Jensen redirected Blake Thompson's long shot to get one back for Waterloo with 3:05 remaining.
The Black Hawks return home to host the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday at 7:05. On Heroes in Uniform Night, Waterloo will wear uniforms featuring the emblems of the Waterloo Police and Fire & Rescue Departments. The jerseys will be auctioned after the game with proceeds benefitting each department's Honor Guard.
