PORT HURON, Mich. (November 20, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, Friday night fell 3-1 to the host Port Huron Icehawks as Kris Vernarsky scored the game winning goal and added an assist and Adam Russo made 24 saves
The Icehawks broke a 1-1 deadlock at 15:54 of the second period while on the power play when Vernarsky rifled the puck in under the crossbar from the left wing circle.
Port Huron got the crucial insurance goal at 11:51 of the third period thanks to Cory Stillman, who slid into the goalmouth to tip in Mikael Bedard's centering feed.
It was the Mallards who first jumped in front in the first period on Justin White's first career goal. White buried a Juris Stals centering pass with the Mallards on the power play at 9:51.
The Quad City lead lasted just over three minutes until Derek Patrosso knocked the puck in from the doorstep to tie the score at one.
The Mallards travel to Muskegon tomorrow evening to take on the Lumberjacks before returning home to meet the Fort Wayne Komets Sunday afternoon at at 4:00 p.m. The first 1,000 children ages 12-and-under through the doors for Sunday's game will receive free Webkinz. In addition to the Webkinz giveaway, after Sunday's game fans in attendance will have the chance to lace up their skates and join the Mallards on the ice for the team's second Family Skate Night of the season. The Mallards will welcome fans to Family Skate Nights after each of the Flock's Sunday games this season. Following the contest Sunday fans are also invited to join Mallards players in migrating to O'Keefe's Sports Pub & Grub at 1331 5th Avenue in Moline for a post game party.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the second period.
