Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that veteran forward Olivier Ouellet has taken a leave of absence from the team, citing personal reasons. He will be out of Saint John's lineup indefinitely, with the Sea Dogs retaining his major junior rights.
A native of Drummondville, QC, Ouellet was acquired by the Sea Dogs from the Chicoutimi Sagueneens last season in exchange for a second round entry draft pick. In 137 career QMJHL games, Ouellet has recorded 37G-50A-87P in addition to 56PIM. This season, the 5'8", 173 lb. winger has contributed 6G-9A-15P-6PIM in 25 games played for Saint John.
Currently leading the QMJHL with 43 points, the Sea Dogs (21-4-1-0) will put their franchise-record 13-game winning streak on the line tomorrow night when they take on the reigning President's Cup Champion Drummondville Voltigeurs at the Marcel Dionne Centre (puck drop - 8:30pm AST). These two powerhouse squads will meet again next Friday, November 27 (7:30pm) at Harbour Station. Tickets to all upcoming Sea Dogs home games can be obtained by calling the arena box office at (506) 657-1234.
