Explorers Unveil 2010 Schedule

November 18, 2009 - American Association (AA) Sioux City Explorers

SIOUX CITY, IA The Sioux City Explorers announced today that their 2010 schedule has been finalized. The team will begin their 18th season in Siouxland and their quest for an American Association Championship on the road versus the El Paso Diablo's on May 13th, 2010. After a (4) game series versus the Diablo's, the Explorers will head to Grand Prairie, TX to take on the Air hogs for a (3) game series before traveling home for the home opener on Friday, May 21st, 2010 versus the Sioux Falls Canaries with a post game fireworks display following the game.

The American Association will operate in 2010 with a total of 10 teams, as the Sioux City Explorers will remain a member of the American Association's North Division along with the Lincoln Saltdogs, St. Paul Saints, Sioux Falls Canaries, and Wichita Wingnuts. The American Association's South Division will consist of the Fort Worth Cats, Shreveport-Bossier Captains, Grand Prairie Air Hogs, El Paso Diablo's, and the Pensacola Pelicans.

The Sioux City Explorers 2010 season will feature a 96 game split season format. There will be a total of 48 home game played right here at Lewis & Clark Park with an equal number of games to be played on the road. The first half of the season concludes following play on July 4th. The 2010 American Association All-Star game is set for July 27th in Wichita, KS and will feature the North Division all-stars against the South Division all-stars.
