Calgary, AB - The Everett Silvertips couldn't find a way to get up on the Calgary Hitmen Friday night, losing a hard fought battle in overtime, 3-2. Kellan Tochkin extended his point streak to six games with an assist on Tyler Maxwell's game tying goal in the second period. Chris Langkow rounded out Everett's scoring on Friday night. Langkow and Byron Froese, who picked up an assist on the night, both have three game point streaks. Everett travels to Spokane Tuesday night for the finale of their seven game road trip.
Calgary got on the board first Friday night after Michel Stone scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play at 9:48. Calgary's lead didn't hold for long when a Chris de la Lande blast from the point was tipped in front by Langkow past Calgary goaltender Martin Jones at 13:08 tying the score 1-1. The 1-1 score didn't last long when Austin Madaisky scored his fourth of the season at 14:36 to give the Hitmen a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Maxwell got Everett back in the game at 19:12 of the second period when a Tochkin feed to Froese, at the top left circle, led to a fake one-timer into a one touch pass on the doorstep for Maxwell to make the score 2-2.
The score was tied 2-2 after the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime. Just 57 seconds into the extra period Calgary capitalized on a Rasmus Rissanen tripping call. Joel Broda collected a backdoor pass from Brandon Kozun that found the back of the net to give the Hitmen the 3-2 victory in overtime.
This brings the ‘Tips record to 10-5-1-0 with 21 points in 16 games played. The Silvertips now get three days rest before finishing up their seven game road trip with a game Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 PM against the Spokane Chiefs.
