Hot Rods Introduce 'Fueled By Art' Program

November 4, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL) Bowling Green Hot Rods

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, introduced their newest community initiative on Tuesday, Fueled by Art. Through this community venture, the team is partnering with arts advocate and attorney Flora Templeton Stuart to inspire student artists and reward them for their creative efforts in the classroom.

"Providing community-based programs is a top priority for our team," said Hot Rods General Manager and CEO Brad Taylor. "In this day and age when art programs are being slashed, we are proud to work with Flora Templeton Stuart to create a new program to nurture the artistic abilities of kids in South Central Kentucky."

With the Fueled by Art program, the Hot Rods are looking for students to create artwork that showcases the fun and excitement of Hot Rods baseball. Over the next few months the team will collect student art, and then take a selection of these photos, drawings, and paintings to feature in the Hot Rods Fueled by Art calendar on to Art Appreciation Night, Monday, April 12, 2010.

"As founder of the Art Education Task Force, I am honored to sponsor the Hot Rods Fueled by Art program," said Attorney Stuart. "It is vitally important to create artistic opportunities to motivate and inspire youth in our community."

As part of the program, the Hot Rods will make special trips to local schools with mascot and community ambassador, Axle the Bear. These appearances will give students a special introduction to the program while providing encouragement to pursue their artistic dreams and goals in the classroom and beyond.

Fueled By Art appearances will take place in November, December and January. Teachers and administrators that would like their students to participate in the Fueled by Art program should contact Hot Rods Director of Community Affairs Kyle Hanrahan at (270) 901-2121 by November 30, 2009 to schedule an appearance at their school. A full review of the Fueled by Art program can be found on the Hot Rods' website, BGHotRods.com.

Opening Day 2010 is Sunday, April 11, as the Hot Rods begin their first year in the Midwest League against the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds). First pitch is 5:05 PM. For season tickets, mini-plans, and group outings, visit www.bghotrods.com or call (270) 901-2121.
