The Louisiana IceGators gave the Ice Flyers their first loss of the season Friday night, 3-2. The Ice Flyers could not convert any of their five power plays into goals and found themselves in the loss column for the first time this year.On the opposite side of the power play, the IceGators took advantage of a short-handed Ice Flyers' staff late in the first period to score first. At 17:24 the IceGators' recently acquired Frank Littlejohn scored a power play goal assisted by Daryl Moore and Daniel Smith.
The deficit doubled when Ben Manny found the net for Louisiana halfway through the second period. Moore picked up his second point on the play and Paul McBrien also assisted. The second period ended with the Ice Flyers still scoreless.
The Ice Flyers started a comeback with a Jesse Baraniuk goal two and a half minutes into the third period. Tyler Barr helped out on the play, but the success was short-lived as the IceGators quickly countered.
Frank Littlejohn scored his second goal of the night in what would eventually be the game winner. With a little more than 10 minutes left in the third period, the IceGators led 3-1.
When Lorne Misita scored an unassisted goal at 16:56 for the Ice Flyers in the third period it was too little, too late. The score would hold and the Ice Flyers sustained their first loss at the hands of the IceGators, 3-2.
The Ice Flyers will have a shot at revenge on Thursday when they play the IceGators again in Louisiana at 7:05. All Southern Professional Hockey League games are broadcast live via the internet at www.b2tv.com.
