Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forward Victor Oreskovich (oh-REHS-koh-vitch) and defenseman Keaton Ellerby. The pair will join the team tonight and are expected to make their National Hockey League debuts as the Panthers face the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center.
Oreskovich, 23, receives his first ever NHL promotion after registering four points (1+3) and two penalty minutes in five American Hockey League contests with the Amerks. The former University of Notre Dame product picked up his second multi-point game of the season with a pair of assists last night to help Rochester win in its eighth straight game, a 4-2 decision over the Binghamton Senators. A native of Oakville, Ontario, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound forward signed a two-year deal with Florida as a free agent on October 8, 2009.
Ellerby, 22, heads to the show for the first time this season after collecting four assists and skating in all 11 games for the Amerks. The second-year pro leaves Rochester currently tied for first on the team with a plus-four on-ice rating. In 86 AHL games with Rochester, the 6-foot-4, 186-pound blueliner has registered three goals and 24 assists for 27 points. A native of Strathmore, Alberta, Ellerby was taken by Florida in the first round (10th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Rochester returns home on Friday, November 6th as it hosts the Syracuse Crunch at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be the first of a three-game homestand for the Amerks and the third meeting between regional rivals in two weeks. The contest will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The matchup will also be televised live on Channel 98.
