Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-In a nearly unanimous decision, Waterloo Black Hawks players have selected SpongeBob Squarepants as their favorite underwater cartoon character by a wide margin over Aquaman and the Little Mermaid. To celebrate, SpongeBob will be in attendance at the Hawks' next home game, Saturday, November 7th against the Lincoln Stars.

For over ten years, SpongeBob has delighted kids, young and young-at-heart, with his show on Nickelodeon. The millions of people who watch include President Barack Obama, LeBron James, and many of the Waterloo Black Hawks.

"The show is really creative and entertaining," said Black Hawks forward Tyler Barnes. "SpongeBob is a great cartoon because it's funny for children and adults."

Not only will players have the chance to meet SpongeBob on November 7th, thanks to MidWest One Bank and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, so will Black Hawks fans. Say "Hi" to SpongeBob at the game, and bring your camera to capture the moment.

SpongeBob will also be visiting the MidWest One Bank locations in Waterloo and Cedar Falls on the morning of November 7th. Look for him in the Waterloo branch at 3110 Kimball Avenue from 9:30 to 10:30AM, then in Cedar Falls at the MidWest One location at 4510 Prairie Parkway from 11AM to noon.

MidWest One and the Black Hawks are also working together to collect canned food items for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Non-perishable food can be brought to the game on November 7th and to MidWest One locations throughout November.

Tickets are currently available online for the Black Hawks game against the Lincoln Stars at waterlooblackhawks.com. The Black Hawks' ticket office opens Wednesday, November 4th at 11:30AM.
