
Playoff-Bound Chivas Usa Travels To Chicago For Crucial Thursday Night Game

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, October 21, 2009) - Chivas USA travels to Chicago to face the Fire on ESPN2 'MLS Primetime' Thursday night game at 5:00 p.m .PT (7:00 p.m. CT). Chivas USA is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the Western Conference with Houston and Los Angeles, and they are the only team in contention with Columbus Crew to win the Supporters Shield. The Red-and-White, (13-9-6, 45 points) bring a six game unbeaten streak into the match against the Fire (10-7-12, 42 points), who currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference but has not yet secured a spot in the 2009 MLS Cup playoffs. Chivas USA returns home for Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 12:00 noon PT at The Home Depot Center when they face the Houston Dynamo.

* Chivas USA goalkeeper Zach Thornton continues his stellar season, which has him in contention for a Goalkeeper of the Year award, as he leads MLS in both goals against average, with a .78 mark and shutouts, with 12. Thornton has 70 all-time shutouts, good for second on the career MLS shutout list.
* Chivas USA's Jonathan Bornstein returned from international duty with the U.S. Men's National team, where he started both final World Cup Qualifying games at Honduras (10/10) and vs. Costa Rica (10/14). Bornstein scored the equalizing goal, in stoppage time, in a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica, securing a first place finish for the U.S. in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying.
