
Great Start Propels Storm To Victory, 4-1

KEARNEY, NE - Jaden Schwartz scored two goals in the first period to lead the Tri-City Storm (3-1-1, 7 points) to victory over the Lincoln Stars (3-3-0, 6 points), 4-1. With the win, the Storm is currently second in the West Division standings behind the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Schwartz started the scoring 6:35 into the first period, back-handing the puck through the five-hole of Lincoln goalie Jared Coreau. Maxwell Tardy picked up the lone assist on Schwartz's first goal of the game.
Right winger Anthony DeCenzo scored his fourth goal of the season 16:37 into the first period on the 5-on-3 power play advantage to put Tri-City in front 2-0. DeCenzo has scored at least one point in every Storm game this season.
Schwartz would score his second goal of the night and fourth of the season 19:40 into the first period that gave the Storm a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Storm defenseman Luke McManus picked up his second assist of the game on the goal.
Tri-City would get another goal from defenseman Rick Pinkston to start the second period to put the Storm up 4-0. The goal by Pinkston was unassisted as he shot the puck coming into the attack zone across the blueline.
Storm goalie Carsen Chubak, who has played in all five games for the Storm, was denied of his first shutout of the season as the Stars got on the board 7:37 into the third period. Lincoln's Tucker Brockett scored his third goal of the season on the power play to end the scoring drought by the Stars in the game.
The Storm on the power play was 2-8, while Lincoln was 1-4 with the man-advantage. The Storm has the third best penalty kill in the USHL.
Chubak made 30 saves on 31 shots for the Storm earning the win. Coreau received the loss making 12 saves on 15 shots for Lincoln, while Steve Racine came into the game to start the second period in relieve of Coreau, making 21 saves on 22 shots.
The Storm will travel to Youngstown, Ohio to play the expansion Youngstown Phantoms on Friday and Saturday night in the Covelli Centre.
