Dallas Cowboy To Join Vipers' Snake Pit

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett will be a charter member of the Vipers' Fan Spirit Section, the Snake Pit, for the 2009-10 season.

Bennett will come to the Rio Grande Valley to have an exclusive lunch with Snake Pit members on a date to be announced.

Auditions for the Vipers' Snake Pit will be held on October 3rd at 3:30 p.m. at the McAllen Convention Center as part of RGV Rocket Launch, a festival surrounding Houston Rockets Training Camp in the Rio Grande Valley. Registration is open at Academy Sports + Outdoors locations across the Valley, the Vipers Pro-Shop and rgvipers.com.

Bennett is a second year tight end for the Dallas Cowboys, who had 283 receiving yards and four touchdowns during his rookie season. He played three seasons of college football at Texas A&M and caught 105 passes for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Bennett also played basketball during his time at Texas A&M and became the first Aggie to letter in both basketball and football since 1969.
