Ottawa 67's News Release
Last night's season opener against the Niagara IceDogs was a memorable evening to say the least. While our Ottawa 67's made a valiant effort to win against the opposing team, we were disappointed with the final score of 5 to 3 for the IceDogs. However, fans left talking about much more than the game itself.
The evening marked a tribute to the Ottawa 67's past - that of Kilrea, the championships we've won, and the professional players the team has produced over the years. At the beginning of the game, there was a banner raising ceremony, with our captain and assistant captain unfurling the banners one a time, pictured above.
The entry fee for the contest was the purchase of two season tickets and a suite night. What a great deal! We're sure that Urbandale Construction certainly agrees, with their prize of having their name on the Civic Centre valued at over $300,000.
As if that wasn't enough, last night's game sponsor Rogers made four lucky fans very happy by randomly giving away four PVRs (personal video recorders). We can only hope that the first thing these lucky fans tape with their new toys is the next Ottawa 67's game, while they're attending it! Who wouldn't want to relive such a great experience at their leisure?
And last night's national anthem was a harmonious treat, with Shockwave, a barbershop quartet crooning praise to our country. See them pictured below.
We'd like to thank all the fans who came out last night for our season opener. It was great to see you all again! We'll do it again this Sunday, when our Ottawa 67's take on the Soo Greyhounds.
