Niagara IceDogs News Release
IceDogs General Manager Dave Brown is pleased to announce the addition of Frank Girhiny to the IceDogs coaching staff. Girhiny will be joining the team as an Assistant Coach and will be working closely with Head Coach Mario Cicchillo and Assistant Coach Mike McCourt.
Girhiny most recently coached the St. Catharines AAA Minor Midget Jr. Falcons, a team which included 9 OHL draft picks including IceDogs second round pick Dougie Hamilton and IceDogs fifth-round pick Joey DeConcilys.
Brown had nothing put positive things to say about the latest addition to the IceDogs Hockey Operations. "We are thrilled to have Frank joining our coaching staff. He is an extremely positive and enthusiastic individual, who will really add to our team."
Before coaching the AAA Minor Midget Jr. Falcons, Girhiny worked for the Thorold Blackhawks of the Golden Horseshoe Junior B Hockey League and for the Professional Hockey Players Association.
This was another big plus in Brown's eyes. "Frank is a local guy with long term roots in the region and has a great deal of experience with a variety of organizations, which certainly helps."
The entire IceDogs organization would like to welcome Frank and we are happy to have him join our team.
