PeaNUT Set to Make A One-Game Cameo During Nuts Next Homestand Don't miss your chance to be a part of PeaNUT's Playhouse as the Modesto Nuts mascot PeaNUT comes out of retirement for one game to entertain his fans! PeaNUT wants to show everyone what he's been up to during his retirement and will show off his newfound dance skills, magic tricks, game show hosting abilities and golf prowess. A fireworks extravaganza will immediately follow the Nuts game on Saturday, August 1, sponsored by Save Mart Supermarkets, followed by Launch-a-Ball and the chance for kids 12 and under to run the bases like a pro.
Nuts Kick Off Next Homestand Friday, July 31st with Rockies Night and Fireworks! The Nuts are giving away tickets to see the Rockies vs. Giants in San Francisco on Sunday, August 30! Enter to Win at the Applegate Johnston Guest Service Counter, the Nuts will draw a winner during their game on July 31 - Must Be Present to Win. A fireworks extravaganza will immediately follow the Nuts game against the Stockton Ports, and Launch-a-Ball as well as a kids base race will take place after the fireworks.
Nuts Will Host Over 20 Mascots for Mascot Mania Sunday, August 2 The Modesto Nuts will host Mascot Mania Sunday, August 2 - a day at the ballpark you will not soon forget. John Thurman Field will host over 20 different mascots, and will feature a pre-game mascot kickball game! See the mascots compete in a variety of contests during the Nuts game, including: tug of war, musical chairs, the limbo and an obstacle relay. Don't miss your chance to get autographs and be entertained by a host of characters!
Nuts Mid-July Play Improves Record, Standings The Modesto Nuts (57-47) have been turning up the heat on the field, and enter a three-game series against the Stockton Ports (44-60) swinging hot bats at the plate, and throwing flames from the mound. Since July 10 the Nuts have been on a tear, winning 13 of 19 games, outscoring their opponents 76-24. In the six losses the Nuts have suffered in their last 19 contests, three of them were by just one run.
The Nuts currently* boast six players hitting .283 or above, and four at or above the .300 mark. Scott Beerer leads the team with a .310 batting average and Charlie Blackmon is close behind with a .303 mark. Jay Cox and Matt Repec each boast a .300 average, while Maikol Gonzalez and Jason Van Kooten sit at .299 and .283, respectively.
On the mound Joey Williamson continues to impress with a record of 11-1 and 3.15 ERA in 25 games, nine of which were starts. In 80 innings Williamson has notched 74 strikeouts, walked just 22 and posted an impressive 1.10 WHIP. Cory Riordan leads the team with 127.2 innings pitched and has a record of 7-6 in 21 starts. Riordan has struck out 96 and walked just 36 throughout the season. The Rockies 2008 number one draft pick, Christian Friedrich boasts a 2-0 record in six starts and a 1.73 ERA with 41 strikeouts, only 10 walks and a remarkable 0.91 WHIP.
Pitching from the Nuts bullpen has been equally notable in 2009. Sean Jarrett (4-2, 3.42 ERA, 42 SO, 50 IP) and closer Craig Baker (2-2, 2.53 ERA, 55 SO, 46.1 IP) continue to post solid numbers pitching in relief.

Golf Tournament Set for Monday, August 3 - Last Chance to Sign Up! Calling all golfers - last chance to sign up for the Second Annual Modesto Nuts Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, August 3 at Stevinson Ranch Golf Course! The tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a shot gun start, and check-in is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Registration includes 18 holes of golf with cart, a box lunch, dinner following the tournament and a tee package. All registrations and payment must be received by Friday, July 31, so sign up today!
Kids Can Still Sign Up for Modesto Nuts Skills Camp - Don't Miss Out! Don't miss the opportunity for your kids to end their summer vacation on a high note by participating in the Modesto Nuts Skills Camp! Last chance for kids ages 6-14 to sign up and learn the fundamentals of baseball from the pros. Campers will receive instruction in the following areas: infield, outfield, baserunning, hitting, catching and pitching. Skills Camp dates are August 4, 5, and 6 from 9 a.m. to Noon each day.
