New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The Zephyrs got off to a hot start Sunday night and never looked back as they beat the Iowa Cubs 9-1.
The Zephyr offense jumped on Iowa early for the second straight night, but unlike Saturday, they were able to make the lead stick. Iowa starter Mitch Atkins failed to make it out of the first inning, giving up seven runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
In the first inning alone, Cameron Maybin went 2-for-2 with a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored. John Raynor broke out of his slump by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored on the night.
Clay Hensley (4-2) did it all for the Z's, as he threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball to get the win. He also recorded two hits and two RBI before being taken out of the game to a rousing ovation from the fans.
The series will continue Monday night at 7:00 when John Koronka (LHP) takes on Jose Ascanio (RHP).
