HOOVER, AL - For the first time in Minor League Baseball All-Star Game history, the Southern League All-Star Game will feature a number of Future Games participants when it returns to Birmingham on Monday, July 13.

Fellow Barons Tyler Flowers and Dayan Viciedo along with Mobile starting pitcher Jarrod Parker, will be in uniform at Regions Park just one day after participating in the Major League Baseball Futures Game at Busch Stadium.

"This unique situation started with our players asking to come and be a part of the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game," Barons General Manager Jonathan Nelson said. "From the moment Tyler Flowers heard he was going to be in the Futures Game, he was telling us, 'If I get selected to the Southern League All-Star Game as well, I want to be there. Even if I can't play, I want to be in uniform with my teammates.'"

The Barons worked with Southern League officials and the respective Major League Baseball Player Development staffs to come to this resolution. Ultimately, the decision was left to the players.

The 2009 Southern League All-Star Game will be played on Monday, July 13 at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala. Tickets to the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game as well as to the 2009 Southern League Home Run Derby and Celebrity Softball Game are available online at barons.com or by calling the Regions Park Box Office. Tickets for both events can also be purchased by visiting the Regions Park Box Office.

The Barons won the South Division First-Half Title and will open the playoffs on Thursday, September 10 at Regions Park. Game two will be played Friday, September 11 at Regions Park. Tickets to both games are available online, in-person at the Regions Park Box Office or by calling the Barons at (205)988-3200.
