Lowell Spinners News Release
LOWELL, MA - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have sold out every home game they have played this decade, a streak that spans 350 games as of the Spinners June 24 sell-out. However the streak is now in jeopardy, as thousands of tickets remain available for the Spinners upcoming homestand against the Tri-City ValleyCats July 7-9.
The Spinners sell-out streak, dating back to Aug. 2, 1999, spans the course of 350 games of 5,000+ sold out seats. Despite the streak, fans are never shut out of LeLacheur Park, thanks to standing room tickets and late releasing players' pass list tickets.
"We take great pride in the streak," said Spinners Vice President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "The streak predates my time in the organization and is a true testament to the dedication and loyalty of Spinners fans."
Over the course of the streak the Spinners have been nominated for the John H. Johnson President's Award, Minor League Baseball's highest honor for the game's "complete baseball franchise," and won the 2000 Larry MacPhail Promotional Trophy, awarded each year to the team who exceeds all others in promotional excellence.
On the field Spinners fans have watched the professional debuts of Jonathan Papelbon, Jacoby Ellsbury, Hanley Ramirez, Kevin Youkilis, Jed Lowrie, Justin Masterson and countless other phenomenal players, many of whom have made, or will one day reach, the Major Leagues. In 2008, the Spinners thrilled long-time fans with their first ever playoff appearance, clinching the Stedler Division Title in front of the loyal home crowd in an exhilarating come from behind win.
"We understand all good things must come to an end," said Bawmann, "but we look forward to the Lowell fans helping us keep the streak alive over the course of the next week. It is something not only for us to take pride in, but for Lowell residents and Spinners fans alike."
Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Spinners Box Office at 978-459-1702, visiting the Box Office from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or online 24 hours a day at lowellspinners.com.
"People are always convinced they can't get a ticket," said Bawmann. "Tell a friend, tell a family member, Tweet away, great tickets are always available. Let's keep this streak alive!"
