Mavs Look To Wrap Up First Half TitleJune 15, 2009 - California League (CalL) High Desert Mavericks
Even if the Mavs cannot come away with the title Monday night, they will still have a good shot to do so during the three-game home series against the Quakes. Each game Monday through Wednesday will start at 7:05 p.m.
The Mavs will finish the final four games of the first half at Inland Empire this weekend.
Next Tuesday will also be an exciting night for the Mavs as they send four players to the California League-Carolina League All-Star Game in Lake Elsinore. The Mavs will have four starters on the Cal League's All-Star squad, the most of any team in the league.
First baseman Joe Dunigan, third baseman Alex Liddi, shortstop Juan Diaz, and designated hitter Travis Scott will bring their explosive bats to the Cal League lineup. Dunigan and Liddi are currently tied for the league lead in home runs and have the top two RBI totals in the league as well.
Diaz is not only among the league leaders with a .327 batting average, but he also is the top fielding shortstop in the league. Scott has consistently had one of the top batting averages in the league as well as one of the best slugging percentages.
