
Diamond Jaxx Throttle Mudcats With 10-3 Win

ZEBULON, NC - The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (25-38) bust out after being blanked the night before on Saturday night and take game three against the Carolina Mudcats (34-28), 10-3. The Jaxx took advantage of nine Mudcats walks. The Diamond Jaxx lead the series two games to one.
The Diamond Jaxx score first Saturday night as Marshall Hubbard picked up his third RBI in the series, driving in Brent Johnson with a groundout to first.
Carolina answered the tally in the bottom of the inning as Southern League batting leader, Chris Heisey homered to left tying the game at one.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Carolina rallied with two outs and got an RBI single from Jose Castro. The Mudcats picked up doubles in the inning from Logan Parker and Chris Kroski. The Carolina 2 to 1 lead did not last long though.
In the top of the fifth, Yamid Haad led the inning off with a double, advancing to third on an error. Leury Bonillia singled in Haad squaring the score at two each. Oswaldo Navarro was given a free pass by Carolina starter, Jordan Smith (4-2) and Mel Stocker picked up a bunt single loading the bases. Leury Bonilla scored on a passed ball by Chris Kroski giving the Jaxx the lead. Greg Halman reached base on a fielding error by Juan Francisco at third and that scored Navarro from third giving the Jaxx a 4-2 lead.
The Diamond Jaxx were not done yet. Matt Mangini walked with one out and Jerry Gil was brought in to the game replacing Jordan Smith, Smith, who took the loss, went 5.1 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits. Jerry Gil walked Yamid Haad and gave up a single to Bonilla. With the bases loaded, Gil walked Navarro and Mel Stocker pushing the lead to 6-2. Then later in the inning, Leury Bonilla scored on another passed ball by Kroski behind the plate. The Jaxx went up 7-2. Jerry Gil lasted just two thirds of an inning, giving up four runs and walking five hitters.
Marshall Hubbard and Johan Limonta walked to lead off the top of the seventh inning and the Mudcats went to the bullpen again. Camilo Vasquez hit Matt Mangini, the first batter he faced to load the bases. Yamid Haad racked up his second double of the game plating Hubbard and Limonta. The Jaxx took a 9-2 lead.
Luis Munoz, who picked up the win was lifted by Patrick Ryan in the bottom of the seventh. Munoz went six innings, giving up just two runs and scattering eight hits. Ryan dealt a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
The two teams exchanged homers in the eighth inning. Erick Monzon hit his fifth homer of the season giving the Jaxx a 10-2 lead and then Jeff Frazier homered off of Ryan in the bottom half making the score 10-3, which was the eventual final.
Yamid Haad led the way for the Jaxx going 2-for-4 at the plate, with two doubles and two RBI's/ Marshall Hubbard and Matt Mangini each picked up hits, extending their hitting streaks to four games. Leury Bonilla picked up a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
With the Jaxx leading the series two games to one, LHP Danny Christensen (0-4, 4.57) makes the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Opposing Christensen on the hill will be RHP Dallas Buck (2-1, 3.42) for Carolina.
