Hagerstown Suns News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD -- Just one batter after third baseman Steven Souza scored the tying run for the Hagerstown Suns on an RBI groundout by left fielder Charlie Fermaint, Wednesday night's game between the Suns and Lake County Captains at Municipal Stadium was suspended due to heavy rains.

The game will resume Thursday night at 5:35 p.m., with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. Play was suspended with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the game tied, 1-1. Hagerstown right fielder Michael Guerrero will return to the plate with a count of three balls and one strike, and no one on base.

The Captains jumped on the board early against Suns starter Terrence Engles Wednesday night, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Donnie Webb stole home on a throw to second by Hagerstown catcher Derek Norris. Reliever Patrick McCoy replaced Engles in the top of the second, and threw three shutout innings before Souza tripled to lead off the bottom of the fourth and scored to tie the game.

Following the completion of the suspended game Thursday night, there will be a break of approximately half an hour before the Suns and Captains play their regularly-scheduled Thursday night contest, which will become a seven-inning game.

The Suns' Thirsty Thursday promotion will be in effect for both games, with 12 oz. domestic drafts being sold for just $1.25 each. Thanks to WAYZ 104.7fm, it will also be Western Night at Municipal Stadium, as well as the first Merchant Night of 2009, presented by NBC25.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
