Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club has announced that it is returning to the Toronto Sun as the official newspaper of the team. The Toronto Sun was home to the Argos for decades and now, after a short absence, is its print partner once again. As well, the 2009 Argos Cheerleaders will be presented by the Toronto Sun.
Kin-Man Lee, Publisher & CEO, Toronto Sun and 24 Hours, commented, "The Toronto Sun is proud to be the official newspaper sponsor of the Toronto Argonauts. The Sun has always been a huge supporter of the Argos and, as always, will provide the most in-depth coverage sports fans have been accustomed to."
The Toronto Argonauts have also entered into an agreement with SUN TV, bringing viewers a weekly show called Argos Access every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. starting June 9. Throughout the CFL season, Michael "Pinball" Clemons teams up with Jacqui Delaney (CFRB's "The Bill Carroll Show") for an all-access look at your Toronto Argonauts. Each half-hour episode will feature expert, insider analysis of the team's performance on the field. But Argos Access will also take fans behind the scenes to meet the personalities behind the pads; passionate competitors who are compassionate in the community. Argos Access is the show for fans who bleed Double Blue, offering a unique window into the world of their beloved Boatmen. Argos Access will be produced in-house at SUN TV as the newest addition to the station's growing sports department.
"SUN TV is committed to building new relationships in the community and with Argos Access, we have the opportunity to partner with Toronto's oldest professional sports franchise," remarked Don Gaudet, General Manager of Programming, SUN TV and Men TV. "We are thrilled to be producing a unique show that will give fans and viewers unprecedented access to an organization with such a rich history, one that is truly part of the fabric of our city."
Argonauts President & CEO Bob Nicholson enthused, "We are thrilled to be back once again with the Toronto Sun as the official newspaper of the Toronto Argonauts. We have a long history with the Sun and look forward to partnering with them in our many ventures, both on and off the field. The Toronto Argonauts offer fans an accessibility that no other sports franchise in the city can match. Our new show Argos Access on SUN TV gives our fans a new outlet for all of their Argos news and insights. With Michael and Jacqui as hosts, this show will be the go-to destination for our existing fanbase and attract some new fans along the way. I can't wait to see the first show on June 9!"
