St. Lucie Mets News Release
The St. Lucie Mets thump the Cardinals 12-6 tonight. Palm Beach got off to a bad start in tonight's game giving up four runs off one long hit in the first. Francisco Pena went yard, hitting a grand slam off the Cards starting pitcher Scott Gorgen. The pounding didn't stop there the Cardinals gave up 12 runs in five innings.
Palm Beach tried to mount a comeback after Tommy Pham hit his second homerun of the year in the fourth inning. However, they could not muster enough to catch the hard hitting Mets.
The Cards will wrap up the series with St. Lucie tomorrow at 10:35 am. The Palm Beach Cardinals will be hosting Education Day tomorrow. Last year, over 14,000 students participated in this unique educational experience. With the support of the Palm Beach and Martin County School Districts, Education Days will be presented at Roger Dean Stadium on six dates during April and May. Education Days will provide students with a unique educational experience and teachers with the opportunity to educate their students on the fundamentals of mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies, while using the exciting sport of baseball as the foundation.
