DES MOINES, Iowa, April , 2009 - In a showdown for first place in the NBA D-League Central Division, the Iowa Energy defeated the Dakota Wizards 130-120 on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Energy (27-22) led the Wizards for the majority of the game, leading 70-63 at halftime. The Wizards attempted a comeback late in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Energy 39-28, but the Energy held on by making eight free throws in the last 53 seconds.
Curtis Stinson's double-double consisting of 27 points and 15 assists helped pave the Energy's way to a victory. Also posting double-doubles were Othyus Jeffers with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Denham Brown with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Demetris Nichols (22 points), John Edwards (20 points) rounded out the Energy squad contributing double-digits.
Six members of the Wizards squad (26-23) scored in double-digits including Maurice Baker who contributed 15 points and 12 assists. Also leading Sioux Falls were Renaldo Major (25 points), Romel Beck (20 points), Richard Hendrix (14 points), David Bell (15 points), and Blake Ahearn (14 points).
The Energy will host the Sioux Fall Skyforce on Friday, April 10th at Wells Fargo Arena.
