Albuquerque's Mouhamed Sene Signs With New York Knicks

NEW YORK, April 9, 2009 - The New York Knicks today signed Mouhamed Sene of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds making him the 22nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season. Sene joins 77 other NBA players with NBA D-League experience.
Sene, a 7-0 center from Senegal, has appeared in 10 games, nine starts, for the Thunderbirds this season and is averaging 10.0 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks. He has scored in double figures seven times, including five points/rebounds double-doubles.
Originally selected in the first round (10th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, Sene has appeared in 46 career NBA games for Seattle and the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 5.5 minutes. In five games for Oklahoma City this season, Sene scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 23 minutes.
No stranger to the NBA D-League, Sene was assigned to the SuperSonics' affiliate Idaho Stampede during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. For his efforts last season with Idaho, Sene was named 2008 NBA D-League Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Sene is expected to join New York today and be available on Friday, April 10, when the team travels to play the Orlando Magic.
