Chief's Players Improving
March 15, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs have announced that all the players who came down with an apparent case of food poisoning are improving and that the two postponed games from this weekend will be played as scheduled on Monday and Tuesday night.
With the cooperation of the WHL, Tri-City Americans and Kelowna Rockets, the Chiefs were forced to reschedule their road game in Tri-City from last night to Tuesday, March 17th and home game versus the Kelowna Rockets from Sunday night to Monday, March 16th.
A majority of the Chiefs roster was affected by a serious bout of illness following Friday night's home game against Tri-City. Team doctors were at the Spokane Arena on Sunday morning checking the affected players.
Two additional players did come down with the same symptoms last night, but "everything indicates that this is a 24-48 hour illness and everyone is improving," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said.
The Chiefs will host the Kelowna Rockets on Monday night at 7:00 on the Regular Season Finale presented by Coca-Cola. Fans that had tickets for Sunday's game will have them honored on Monday night, or they can be exchanged at the Chiefs ticket office for any playoff game. Spokane is scheduled to open the post season on Friday, March 20th and Saturday, March 21st. Contact the Chiefs ticket office at (509) 535-PUCK for more information.
Spokane's game originally scheduled for Saturday night in Tri-City will be played on Tuesday, March 17th at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The game can be seen live on Comcast channel 78 beginning at 7:00.
