Raiders to host Tie Breaker Tuesday

March 15, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - For the first time in 25 years, there will be a tie-breaker game needed to determine the 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference. As a result of the Red Deer Rebels defeating the Oil Kings 2-1 in Edmonton this afternoon both the Prince Albert Raiders and Oil Kings finished the regular season with 67 points.

A one game playoff to determine 8th will be at the home of the team with the most wins. Since the Raiders had 31 regular season victories and the Oil Kings 29, the tie breaker will be at the Art Hauser Centre Tuesday at 7:30 PM.

Tickets for this game will go on sale Monday morning at 9:00 AM at the Raider Box Office. Season ticket holders have until noon on Tuesday to get their seat to the game before it is released to the general public.

Admission for all seats to this game will be the same as regular season: $16 for adults, $13 for Students and $7 for children 12 and under.

Tickets are available by calling 764-GAME or on line at www.raiderhockey.com. The last tie breaker game in the WHL was in the 1983-84 season when the Calgary Wranglers defeated the Saskatoon Blades 8-7 in overtime to take sixth in the East Division.
