Altoona Curve Announce Radio Station Affiliates

ALTOONA, Pa - The Altoona Curve today announced their list of network affiliate stations for the 2009 season.
Once again, Curve fans in other regions outside of the greater Altoona area will be able to hear the Curve on a station in their hometown.
In addition to the team's flagship station in Altoona, ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM-AM, fans will be able to listen to Curve baseball on the following affiliate stations in the region:
WHUN-AM, 1150 in Huntingdon
The Edge 850 (WKGE-AM) in Johnstown
Fox Sports Radio 970 (WBGG-AM) in Pittsburgh
The Edge, 1400 (WWGE-AM) in Loretto
WTRN-AM, 1340 in Tyrone
WHUN-AM, 1150 based in Huntingdon will carry a full slate of Curve baseball in 2009. Their strong, 5,000-watt daytime signal will give the Curve a strong footprint east of the Altoona region. Much like their flagship station, ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM, WHUN is owned and operated by Forever Broadcasting.
The Edge, 850 (WKGE-AM) in Johnstown boasts the strongest signal in the region on the AM dial. At 10,000 watts, Curve baseball will be heard will reach parts of northern Maryland and southern New York for all 142 games. The Sporting News Radio format makes the Curve an ideal fit on the station, returning the team to that frequency for the first time since 2004.
Fox Sports Radio, 970 (WBGG-AM) will air a minimum of 55 Curve games in the greater Pittsburgh area. The 5,000-watt station is one of two all-sports stations in the city, which gives the Curve a strong, major-market presence and makes the team one of the only minor league franchises to have a radio affiliate in the market of their parent organization. Many nights, the Curve will follow "The Joe Bendel Show," which is one of the premier sports talk shows in the Pittsburgh media market.
The Edge, 1400 (WWGE-AM) is the sister station of 850-AM, but is based in Loretto and is Cambria County's oldest radio station. Also a Sporting News Radio format they will carry Pittsburgh Pirates baseball in 2009 and on non-conflicting days, which will be 55 total dates, Curve games will be heard.
WTRN-AM, 1340 in Tyrone is the only station that has aired Curve baseball through each of the team's first 11 seasons. The hometown station will give the Curve a strong base of listeners north of the greater Altoona area. WTRN will carry Pirates baseball in '09 and carry the Curve on non-conflicting days.
Play-by-play broadcasters Ron Potesta and Dan Zangrilli will call the action for the Curve in 2009.

The first broadcast on the Curve Radio Network will be Wednesday, April 8 at 6:35 p.m. when the Curve open their 2009 season against the Erie SeaWolves (AA - Detroit Tigers).
The 2009 Home Opener is scheduled for April 16 at 6:35 p.m. against the SeaWolves. Fans can take advantage of lower, full and partial season ticket plans by calling 877-99-CURVE to speak with a Curve ticket representative, or stop by Blair County Ballpark during normal business hours.
