Tickets for Dynamo's Champions League Opener on Sale Now

HOUSTON, TX (February 9, 2009) - Tickets are now available for the Houston Dynamo's opening game of 2009, a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal match against Atlante of Mexico, it was announced today. The game is the first leg of the quarterfinal series and will be played on February 24 at Robertson Stadium at 9:00 p.m..
The game is the first of two between the Dynamo, the 2007 MLS Cup champions, and Atlante, the 2007 Mexican Apertura champions. The second leg will be played in Cancún, Mexico, on March 3. The series winner will be determined on aggregate scoring over the two legs, with away goals, extra time, and penalty kicks as potential tiebreakers. The winner will face either Santos Laguna (Mexico) or the Montreal Impact (Canada) in the semifinals.
Tickets are on sale online at HoustonDynamo.com and TicketMaster and by calling the Dynamo office at (713) 276-7500. Normal Dynamo ticket prices apply, and a 4-pack is available for $32.
"We encourage all Dynamo fans to be a part of this historic match, and this highly discounted package is our way of making it easy for everyone to attend," Dynamo COO Chris Canetti said. "This is a critical game in our quest to reach the Club World Cup, and it's our goal to re-create the home field advantage that has lifted our players to big victories over the years."
The Dynamo are the only United States team remaining in the 2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League, the first edition of the tournament. The tournament winner, as regional champion, qualifies for the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup, which includes regional champions from around the world and will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates December 10-20. Manchester United is the defending Club World Cup champion.
