February 6, 2009 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
The Bucs got off to another great start tonight and they were able to hold on for the 8-4 victory.
H.T. Lenz and Josh Myers started the scoring with goals just 37 seconds apart to make it 2-0 midway through the first. Waterloo slowed the Bucs' moment with a fight between heavy weights, the Black Hawk's Eriah Hayes and the Bucs' Andrew Panzarella. It paid off as the Black Hawks scored the next goal to make it 2-1 after one period.
The Bucs scored three more goals in the second to the Hawk's one; the score was 5-2 after two. Scoring in the second period were Rocco Carzo (2 goals, 1 assist) and Brett Bruneteau. The Bucs continued their moment in the third period with 3 more goals from Joe Gleason, Matt White and Alex Chiasson (1 goal, 3 assists).
Des Moines and Waterloo finished 3-7 and 2-5 on the powerplay, respectively. Michael Houser got the win making 21 saves, and his counterparts, Parker Milner and Joe Howe, made 21 total saves.
The Bucs hope to ride this unusual scoring touch tomorrow at home against the Indiana Ice. Indiana defeated Sioux City tonight, 8-4. Puck drops tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
