Houston Aeros News Release


The AHL is in the midst of their All-Star break with the game being played tonight at 6 p.m. CST in Worcester, Mass. Aeros' goaltender Barry Brust and left wing Corey Locke will represent Houston on the Canadian All-Star Team. After the All-Star break is over, Houston will have a three-in-three starting Thursday at home and ending Saturday in Chicago.

Thursday's 7:05 p.m. contest against the Quad City Flames will be the fourth of the season, second at Toyota Center. Houston holds a 1-2-0-0 record against the Flames so far this season. The Aeros defeated Quad City on December 11 by a score of 4-1 and dropped the following two in Quad City. Houston holds a 4-6-0-1 all-time record against the club, 2-2-0-1 in Houston, since their inception last season.

The Binghamton Senators come to Houston for the first time ever Friday for a 7:35 p.m. contest which is also the second Friday Night Ice game on Fox Sports Houston. The Senators currently rank fifth in the East Division with a record of 23-15-3-3 prior to the All-Star break. The first ever meeting on January 2 in Binghamton was a 4-0 victory by Binghamton, the Aeros' third and latest time being shut out this season.

The third and final of the week for Houston is a 7 p.m. contest against the Chicago Wolves who the Aeros have defeated in both pairings so far this season. The game is the second of three games to be played in Chicago. The Aeros will return eight days later for the final game in Chicago on February 8. Houston has an all-time record of 46-34-14-4 against Chicago with a 19-22-6-2 record in the Windy City.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Houston Aeros' LW Corey Locke tallied three points (2-1=3) in the team's two games against the Peoria Rivermen prior to heading to Worcester to represent the Aeros in the AHL All-Star Classic along with goaltender Barry Brust. Locke earned an assist on Friday's opening goal during a power play. He later followed up with the Aeros third goal of the game, the eventual game winner, on another power play. Locke followed Friday's performance with another power-play goal at 16:11 in the third period to bring the Aeros within one goal in their comeback attempt after entering the period with a 2-0 deficit. He finished the weekend with two goals and an assist with four shots and only two penalty minutes.The Houston Aeros recorded a convincing 5-2 win over the Peoria Rivermen at Toyota Center Friday night. The Aeros won their fourth straight game marking the longest winning streak of the season since the team won their first four games. Peter Olvecky scored the game-winning goal, and Maxim Noreau and Corey Locke each recorded a goal and an assist for the Aeros.

The Houston Aeros' two goals in the third period wasn't quite enough to top the visiting Peoria Rivermen in a 3-2 loss Saturday night. The loss kept the Aeros (21-18-1-7) in a tie for second place with the Rockford IceHogs in the West Division heading into the All-Star break.
