Jacks Still Top Southern Conference Despite Two Losses

(Odessa, TX) - The Jacks began their rodeo road trip on Saturday night with a 7-3 win over Amarillo. Despite losing their other two games this weekend, Odessa is still the top team in the CHL's Southern Conference.

This week: Wednesday @ Amarillo, Friday @ Bossier-Shreveport, Saturday @ Corpus Christi

Tuesday @ Corpus, 5-3 Win

Russ Moyer's power play goal with 8:34 left to play was the difference maker at the Jacks topped Corpus Christi, 5-3. Sebastien Thinel added an empty net goal to seal the win, and the Jacks scored three goals with a man advantage.

Friday vs. Amarillo, 7-4 Loss

Amarillo opened up a 3-0 lead in the first period as the Jacks had to play catch up the rest of the game. Odessa did score two goals with an extra attacker on in the third, but Amarillo answered with two empty net goals to preserve the 7-4 win.

Saturday @ Amarillo, 7-3 Win

Odessa scored four unanswered goals in the second period to lead the Gorillas 6-2 after two periods. Both teams exchanged third period goals, and Amarillo coach, Tom Coolen, was ejected from the game for throwing objects onto the ice in the Jacks win.

Sunday @ New Mexico, 3-1 Win

Both teams exchanged goals in period one, but neither team would score again until New Mexico's Christopher Robertson netted the game winner with five minutes left in regulation. It was the Jacks first loss against New Mexico this season.

Wednesday @ Amarillo, 7:05 PM

New Year's Eve will be the third meeting against Amarillo in the last four games for the Jacks. Odessa leads the season series 3-2 after their win on Saturday. Dominic Leveille has 11 points (three goals, eight assists) against the Gorillas this season.

Friday @ Bossier-Shreveport, 7:05 PM

It's the only meeting of the season against the Mudbugs for Odessa. Last year the Jacks lost in Bossier-Shreveport 9-0 in the only meeting of last season.

Saturday @ Corpus Christi, 7:05 PM

It's the sixth meeting between the two rivals on Saturday. The Jacks hold a 4-1 advantage in the season series after winning the last game 5-3. Three of the games have been decided by one goal.
