Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be getting in the holiday spirit during the team's home games this weekend, and helping out those less fortunate through three charitable events at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. The Penguins will take on the Hershey Bears on Friday, December 19, and face-off with the Albany River Rats on Saturday, December 20. Both games start at 7:05pm.
During the first intermission of each game, the Penguins and the Tobyhanna Army Depot will hold the annual 'Teddy Bear Toss.' All fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game, which can be thrown onto the ice between the first and second periods. The toys will be gathered by representatives from the Tobyhanna Army Depot and distributed to children throughout Northeast Pennsylvania during the holiday season.
On Friday, the Penguins will be selling 'Secret Santa Pucks,' to benefit the Penguins United Way Charity Fund. For a $10 donation, fans can pick up an autographed puck featuring the club's 10th season logo. Each Penguins player autographed approximately 40 pucks during a signing session in early November. Each puck was then wrapped for the holidays, meaning fans will not know which player's autograph they will receive.
Additionally, each player signed one puck in silver. Fans who receive one of these special pucks will also receive a game-used stick, and get to keep the puck.
Pucks will be available at the Penguins Fan Assistance Booth starting during pre-game on Friday. Any pucks left after Friday's game will be made available during Saturday night's game.
Finally, the Penguin will hold a live, on-ice auction of their special game-worn holiday sweaters following Saturday night's game against Albany. The team will be wearing special red, green and white themed jerseys for both home games this weekend, which will then be auctioned off one-by-one immediately after the contest.
In order to participate, fans must pick up a bidding card at the jersey auction information table in section 101 during Saturday's game. Immediately following the game, fans will be asked to move to sections 104 and 105 of the arena, where bidding will take place. Penguins broadcaster Scott Stuccio will act as auctioneer.
Penguins Santa Sack ticket deals, featuring tickets to any three remaining Penguins games this season and a $25 team store gift card, are available now through the Penguins Ticket Offices at 570-208-7367.
