Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-The magic number is 2,979. That's the number of seats in Young Arena, and it is the minimum number of Waterloo Black Hawk fans in attendance for each regular season game dating back to March 29th. The streak would become ten consecutive regular season games if there is a strong turnout on Friday, when the Hawks host the Tri City Storm at 7:05.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Black Hawks fans are the greatest fans in hockey. I'm in my eighth season here and they continue to impress me, to 'wow' me, each game," said Doug Miller, General Manager of Business Operations. "We are very fortunate to play here in the Cedar Valley. The team works hard every night to bring fans exciting hockey, and the fans work hard to make this a tough place for visitors to play. Together we have had some great success."

The numbers back-up Miller's statement. Since the beginning of 2007-2008, the Hawks are 19-3-1 when playing in front of a capacity crowd. In the final three home games of last season, plus the first six games at Young Arena this year, the Black Hawks are undefeated. During the new season, the "Seventh-Man Advantage" has helped Waterloo average 4.8 goals per game at home, compared with 3.4 per night on the road.

This weekend's home-and-home series with the Storm will be important to both teams. The Hawks are currently tied with Green Bay for third place in the USHL Eastern Division. The Storm are tied for fifth in the Western Division but are just three points out of third.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance Friday will receive an installment of 2008-2009 iwireless player cards and a Miller Lite schedule poster. Everyone ordering tickets in advance will have the opportunity to enjoy a Domino's Family Four Pack, comprised of four tickets, four sodas, a souvenir program, and a large Domino's Pizza for $44. Friday is also a college night; all college students can purchase tickets for just $5.
