Blues Assign Defenseman Jonas Junland

St. Louis, Mo. (October 25, 2008) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Marek Schwarz from the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the team has assigned defenseman Jonas Junland to Peoria.

Junland, 20, has missed the first seven games for the Blues due to an injury.

He skated in 52 games with Linkoping of the Swedish Elite League last season, collecting 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) along with 42 penalty minutes.

The 6-2, 190-pound blueliner was originally drafted as the Blues third round selection, 64th overall in the 2006 Entry Draft.

Schwarz, 22, has appeared in two games for the Rivermen this season, posting a 0-2-0 record along with a .825 saves percentage. He appeared in 34 games with the Rivermen last season, posting a 14-14-2 record along with a 2.79 goals against average.

The Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic native was originally drafted as the Blues first round selection, 17th overall in the 2004 Entry Draft.
