News and upcoming events for the week of Tuesday, October 14th - October, 19th.
Four games, two come from behind victories via shootouts and five points sums up the Storm's latest week of action. A shootout loss in Owen Sound started the Storm's busy schedule on Wednesday followed by a 4-3 shootout win over the IceDogs on Friday at the Sleeman Centre, a 3-2 come from behind battle with the London Knights at the John Labatt Centre on Saturday and a 3-2 loss on Monday in Kitchener during the annual Thanksgiving match with the Rangers. Taylor Beck scored the tying goal in the third on Wednesday against the Attack, forcing overtime and allowing his team to pick up the guaranteed point. Ben Chiarot and Cody McNaughton both scored their first OHL goals on Friday night against the IceDogs. Chiarot scored the important equalizer in the game. McNaughton went on to score two more goals against the Rangers on Monday for a total of three on the weekend. Brandon Buck was the hero in London scoring the tying goal late in the third on the powerplay. With five points this past weekend the Storm currently have a record of 7-3-0-1 and sit second in the Western Conference, four points behind the leading Windsor Spitfires.
Guelph Storm Grand & Toy Player of the Week (Week ending October 12th) -Thomas McCollum
With all three games ending in a shootout this past week, Thomas was solid between the pipes stopping seven of nine shooters he faced. Helping his team pick up five points in three games played, the Sanborn native had a goals against average of 2.46 and a save percentage of 0.916. McCollum's efforts did not go unnoticed as the 19 year old was given second star honours on both Wednesday and Saturday night.
McCollum is currently fourth in the league in both goals against average and save percentage putting up numbers of 2.16 and 0.928 respectively. The Detroit Red Wings first round pick also sits second in the OHL in wins with six.
Friday, October 17th Erie Otters at Guelph Storm, 7:30 pm
The Erie Otters enter the Eye of the Storm on Friday for the second time this season. Their first visit came back on the 26th of September when the Storm defeated the Otters 5-1. Taylor Beck, Peter Holland and Luke Pither all had one tally while Anthony Nigro scored twice and Thomas McCollum made 33 saves in the victory. After Friday's visit, these two clubs will play each other four more times with the next match up in Erie on Friday, December 19th. This season the Otters have a record of 2-6-1-0 and currently sit last in the Western Conference.
"Free Ride Fridays" - The Guelph Storm and Guelph Transit offer FREE RIDE FRIDAYS for Friday night home games. With a pre-purchased Storm ticket, fans can ride Guelph Transit to Friday's game free of charge by showing the ticket to their Guelph Transit driver beginning at 5:45 pm. Fans can also ride Guelph Transit for free after the game by showing their ticket. The last departure time from St. George's Square is 12:20 am.
Sunday, October 19th : Sudbury Wolves at Guelph Storm. 2:00 pm
Sunday afternoon marks the Sudbury Wolves' lone visit to the Sleeman Centre this season. Last year the Storm won the regular season series winning both games by scores of 7-3 and 2-1. The next visit between these two teams this season will be in Sudbury on the 29th of November. So far this year, the Wolves have a record of 4-2-0-1ranking them third in the Eastern Conference with 0.643 winning percentage.

At Sunday's game against the Sudbury Wolves, Brent Johnson from Wellington Motors and the Guelph Storm invite fans to bring a non perishable item or a cash donation to be donated to the Guelph Food Bank to help reach their Thanksgiving Food Drive goal of 80,000 lbs of food collected. Student Day at the Storm including free post-game "Skate With the Storm" - Fans attending Sunday's game are invited to join the Storm on the ice following the game for a free family skate with the team.
Tickets for Served by the Storm On-Sale Friday
Tickets to this popular event are currently on sale. Casey's Bar & Grill (494 Edinburgh Road South) will host this event on Monday, November 10th starting at 6:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Guelph Storm table behind section 115 at every Storm home game or by visiting the Guelph Storm Box Office in the Old Quebec Street Mall. Ticket prices for the "Served By The Storm" Dinner including meal, non-alcoholic refreshments, dessert and gratuity are $20 per ticket. For more information call 519-837-9690.

Tickets Still Available for the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge at the Sleeman Centre-Nov. 20th
Be part of history, when the Team Russia visits Guelph to face off against the OHL's top Canadian born players on November 20th. Last year, Drew Doughty (pictured) squared off agains the Russians in a pair of Canada-Russia Challenge games before capturing gold with Canada.Â
Tickets are now on sale for the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge game to be played at the Sleeman Centre. Purchase tickets in person, or by calling the Guelph Storm box office in Old Quebec Street Mall at (519) 837-9690. Tickets are also available at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling or visiting Ticketmaster.caÂ
Ticket prices for the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge game in Guelph are $20 for all regular lower bowl seats, $25 for lower bowl Club seats and $30 for 200 level Club seats. Guelph Storm season ticket holders can purchase their seats for this game for just $15 for all ticket types by calling or visiting the Guelph Storm box office on, or before November 11th.
A limited number of Sleeman Centre luxury suites are available to be rented for the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge in Guelph. For more information contact the Sleeman Centre offices.
