SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes earned a 2-1 victory over Club Deportivo FAS at Buck Shaw Stadium in an international friendly Tuesday night. Mikel Arce and Jovan Kirovski scored for the Quakes and Alejandro de la Cruz Bentos netted the lone goal for FAS.

Arce scored in the 25th minute when he back-heeled in a pass from Davide Somma into the lower right corner of the goal. Somma had broken free down the wing before finding Arce in front of goal.

In the 42nd minute, Jovan Kirovski put the Earthquakes up 2-0 when he headed in a cross from Shea Salinas. The Quakes continued to attack in the second half and were rewarded with a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Michael Ghebru was fouled in the box and he stepped up to take the ensuing penalty kick. He blasted a hard shot down the middle that hit the crossbar and the ball was then cleared by the FAS defense.

CD FAS came back with a series of shots in the 55th minute, but Mike Graczyk preserved the two-goal Earthquakes lead with several reaction saves. Alejandro de la Cruz Bentos brought FAS back into the game with a goal in the 77th minute on a free kick from Carlos Aparicio.
