Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal Alouettes running back Avon Cobourne's dream season is rolling along nicely as the team-leader in rushing yards was named today the CFL's Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14 following another great performance in the Alouettes' convincing 37-12 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders last Sunday.
With 17 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown, Cobourne helped the Alouettes clinch a home playoff game at Olympic Stadium - either the East Division Semi-Final on Nov. 8 or the Final on Nov. 15.
So far this season, Cobourne has tallied up 940 rushing yards on 139 carries, placing him third in the CFL despite missing three straight games. He is currently on a streak of six consecutive games with at least 100 yards on the ground.
The Alouettes will play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this Saturday at 4 p.m. at Ivor Wynne Stadium (RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD, 98,5 FM).
