CFL names players of the week

Toronto, ON - (September 30, 2008) - Avon Cobourne, Cam Wake, Jason Armstead, and Rob Bagg were named the CFL's top players for week #14, the Canadian Football League announced today.
Players of the Week are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RB - Avon Cobourne - Montreal Alouettes
Saskatchewan Roughriders 12 @ Montreal Alouettes 37
Highlights / Key Stats:
Avon Cobourne rushed 17 times for 125 yards in his return to the lineup from an ankle injury that caused him to miss three games. Cobourne had 100 rushing yards on 12 carries after the first half alone against a tough Saskatchewan Roughrider defence. He added two receptions for eight yards as the Als clinched a home playoff game. This is Cobourne's second player of the week award this season.
On the season Avon Cobourne has rushed 123 times for 840 yards and five touchdowns. He has also caught 48 passed for 471 yards and two touchdowns. He is second in the league in yards from scrimmage.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DE - Cam Wake - B.C. Lions
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 10 @ B.C. Lions 40
Highlights / Key Stats:
Cam Wake had nine tackles and a league high three sacks in the B.C. Lions convincing home victory. Wake was a force in the backfield all game long sacking quarterback Quinton Porter for losses of 7,8, and 8 yards. Wake also tackled running back Kenton Keith five times including two for a loss. This is Cam Wake's third player of the week award this season.
Cam Wake has 58 tackles and 18 sacks on the season including a forced fumble. His 18 sacks lead the league and are twice as many as any other player.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KR/PR - Jason Armstead - Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Edmonton Eskimos 23 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30
Highlights / Key Stats:
Jason Armstead returned four punts for 150 yards including an 84-yard touchdown in the Bombers victory over the visiting Edmonton Eskimos. Armstead received a Noel Prefontaine punt on his own 26 yard line and marched through the Eskimos cover team for a touchdown. Armstead also added two kick returns for 41 yards. He had 191 combined yards in Week 14.
Jason Armstead has returned 48 punts for 539 yards and one touchdown this season, split between Montreal and Winnipeg. He has also returned 28 kicks for 602 yards.

WR - Rob Bagg - Saskatchewan Roughriders

Highlights / Key Stats:
Rob Bagg had six catches for a league high 146 yards in the Riders loss to the Alouettes. Bagg had receptions of 72 and 49 yards as well as some short gains in his breakout game for the Riders.
Rob Bagg has caught 14 passes for 218 yards with a long of 72 this season.
