Red Bulls fall 1-0 in Chicago, unbeaten streak snapped

BRIDGEWATER, IL - The Chicago Fire snapped the Red Bulls six-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win in Bridgewater, IL, tonight. The six-game unbeaten streak was the team's longest this season and the loss sends the Red Bulls to 8-7-8 on the year with 32 points. The win lifts the Fire to 11-7-5 for 38 points.

Chicago's Stephen King scored the long marker in the game in the 36th minute, when he beat Red Bulls goalkeeper Jon Conway with a shot to the lower right corner from 12 yards out, King intercepted a clearing kick by defender Diego Jimenez and was all alone in the box when he scored.

The goal ended Jon Conway's shutout streak at 380 minutes. The shutout streak is the second longest in franchise history. Conway's streak was just 34 minutes shy of the record of 414 minutes set by Tony Meola from June 16-July 4, 1996. The 380 minutes is also the longest in MLS this season.

The Red Bulls and Fire have one final regular season meeting set for Thursday October 23 in Chicago. It is the final match of the 2008 regular season for both clubs.
