Gonzalez RBI double lifts Hawks to 8-6 win over Yakima

Marwin Gonzalez hit a go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning, then helped out in a game-ending double play, as the Boise Hawks kept their slim Northwest League playoff hopes alive with a 8-6 victory over the Yakima Bears before 2,764 fans at Memorial Stadium.
After Yakima tied the score in the top of the eighth on a Hawks error, Kyler Burke walked to lead off the bottom of the frame and moved to second on a two-strike sacrifice bunt by Carlos Perez. Gonzalez followed with a gap double to right center to give the Hawks the lead for good.
In the ninth, a pair of Dan McDaniel one-out walks put the tying runs abord for the Bears, but Alfredo Marte's line-drive grazed McDaniel and rolled to Gonzalez at second, who tagged the bag and threw to first to end the game.
Burke went 3-for-3 for the Hawks, with Drew Rundle going 2-for-3 with an RBI double. Mike Perconte was solid in relief, fanning five men in two and two-third innings. McDaniel got the final four outs to pick up his second win.
Roberto Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Andrew Fie hit a two-run home run in the loss for the Bears.
The final game of the series is tomorrow night, with James Leverton meeting T.J. Hose at 7:15 p.m.
NOTES - The Hawks made four roster moves prior to the game - as Marcus Hatley and Israel Camacaro were sent to Mesa for medical evaluation, while Mesa Cubs pitchers Cedric Redmond and Manolin DeLeon were promoted to Boise.
