Sea Dogs Trade Gallant To Lewiston For Draft Pick

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that veteran forward Brett Gallant has been traded to the Lewiston MAINEiacs in exchange for a sixth round selection at the 2009 QMJHL Entry Draft.

"Brett Gallant is a tremendous young man with a great deal of character," said Beaulieu. "He was a pleasure to work with these last two seasons and he was a big part of our success last year. We wish him the very best in the future."

Gallant, who will turn 20 in December, was originally signed by Saint John as a free agent on October 25, 2005. The Summerside, PEI native amassed 8G-4A-12P in 131 games played during his three seasons with the Sea Dogs. He is currently the franchise's all-time penalty minutes leader with 439. In 11 playoff games last season, Gallant contributed 1G-0A-1P-15PIM as Saint John won consecutive post-season series on the way to a QMJHL Final Four appearance.
